PART A: ALL LUMILIGHT PRODUCTS
1. Overview & Scope
This Product Disclaimer & Safety Policy applies to all products sold under the LumiLight brand ("LumiLight", "we", "us", "our"). This includes, but is not limited to, headlamps, torches and other portable lights, light-up wearables, electronic accessories, charging cables and any related components.
Our product range varies in design, power source, water resistance and features. Part A gives safety guidance that applies across our range. Part B gives additional guidance specific to the LumiLight Headlamp. Some sections apply only to products with certain features, and these are marked "if your product…".
Please read this policy, and the instructions supplied with your product, before first use. Where a product's instruction manual, packaging, safety notice or product page gives different or more specific guidance, that guidance takes precedence over this general policy.
LumiLight products are designed, tested and manufactured to be safe when used as intended and in line with the supplied instructions. As with any electrical product, misuse, damage or use outside the conditions described here can create risks.

- For emergency rescue, caving, climbing or confined-space work
- As a primary safety light for vehicles, bicycles or machinery
- In any situation where failure of the light could put you or others at risk of serious harm
Always carry a backup light source if you are relying on light in remote areas or after dark.
4. General Safety Guidance
For safe use, always:
- Read and follow the instructions supplied with your product
- Ensure the product is properly fitted, attached or positioned before use
- Inspect the product and any charging cable before use
- Stop using the product if it is damaged, cracked, deformed or not working correctly
Never:
- Modify, disassemble or attempt to repair the product yourself
- Open the product's casing, unless the instructions specifically say you may (for example, to replace a battery)
- Use a damaged product or damaged charging cable
⚠️ Eye Safety
Do not shine the light directly into the eyes of people or animals, and do not stare directly into the light when it is switched on. Many LumiLight products use bright, high-output LEDs, which can cause discomfort, glare or temporary visual disturbance, such as after-images or reduced night vision.
⚠️ Flashing & Strobe Modes
If your product has flashing, strobe or SOS modes: flashing light can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy and may cause discomfort or disorientation in others. Do not use these modes near people who may be affected, and stop use immediately if you or anyone nearby feels unwell.
⚠️ Heat
LEDs and batteries can produce heat during use, particularly at higher brightness settings.
- Do not cover the light while it is switched on, or place it face-down on or near flammable materials
- If a product becomes uncomfortably warm, switch it to a lower setting or switch it off and allow it to cool
- Switch the product off when not in use, particularly before placing it in a bag or pocket, to avoid accidental activation and heat build-up
5. Batteries & Charging
Battery type varies by product. Check your product's instructions or product page to see what your product uses.
If your product has a built-in rechargeable battery:
- Use only the supplied charging cable or a certified, compatible USB cable in good condition
- Use a standard 5V USB power source, such as a reputable wall adapter or computer USB port, from a recognised manufacturer
- Disconnect the product once the charging indicator shows it is fully charged
- Never charge the product while it is in use or being worn
- If the product becomes warm during use, allow it to cool fully before charging
- Charge on a hard, flat, non-flammable surface. Do not charge on or near beds, sofas, cushions, carpets or other flammable materials
- Do not charge near water, heat sources or open flames
- Do not charge unattended or overnight
- Do not charge or use the product if it is wet. Allow it to dry fully and ensure the charging port is dry and free from debris before connecting a cable
- Do not attempt to remove, replace or modify a built-in battery
If your product uses replaceable batteries:
- Use only the battery type stated in the product instructions
- Insert batteries the correct way round, matching the + and − markings
- Do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different types or brands
- Never attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries
- Remove batteries if the product will not be used for a long period
⚠️ If your product uses button or coin cell batteries:
Keep new and used batteries away from children. Swallowing a button or coin cell battery can cause serious internal chemical burns in as little as two hours and can be fatal. If you think a battery may have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention. Make sure the battery compartment is securely closed, and stop using the product if it is not. Keep the product away from children.
For all battery-powered products, stop using the product immediately, disconnect it from power if safe to do so, and move it away from flammable materials if you notice:
- Swelling, bulging or deformation
- Leaking fluid
- Excessive heat
- Smoke, sparking or a burning or chemical smell
- Hissing or popping sounds
Do not attempt to charge or use the product again. Contact us at support@shoplumilight.com. If there is smoke or fire, leave the area and contact the emergency services.
Do not expose any product or battery to high temperatures, for example by leaving it in direct sunlight, on a car dashboard or near a heater. Do not crush, puncture or otherwise physically damage batteries.
6. Water & Environmental Exposure
Water resistance varies across our range, and some products are not water-resistant at all. The water resistance of each product, where applicable, is shown on its product page, packaging or instructions. Unless your product is specifically stated to be waterproof, assume it is not.
For all products:
- Do not submerge any LumiLight product in water unless its instructions specifically say this is safe
- Close any charging port cover fully before use in wet conditions
- After exposure to moisture, dry the product thoroughly before charging, using or storing it
Extreme heat, cold or humidity may reduce battery life, run time, brightness and overall performance. Batteries lose capacity temporarily in cold conditions.
7. Light-Up Hats, Beanies & Other Wearables
If your product is a hat, beanie or other textile item with a built-in light:
- Remove the light module before washing, where the instructions say it is removable. Never wash, soak or tumble-dry a product with the light module or battery still inside
- If the light module is not removable, follow the product's care instructions exactly. Do not machine wash unless the instructions say this is safe
- Ensure the fabric and light module are completely dry before refitting the module, charging or using the product
- Do not iron over, or apply heat to, the light module or any wiring
- Remove the module before charging, if the instructions tell you to
8. Road Use & Visibility
LumiLight products should not be relied upon as your sole visibility or safety solution in traffic environments.
- Do not use a LumiLight product as a substitute for vehicle or bicycle lighting. Our products are not certified as road-legal cycle or vehicle lights
- Do not rely on LumiLight products to make you fully visible to drivers. Wear high-visibility or reflective clothing and use approved safety equipment where appropriate
- Avoid dazzling drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Angle or lower the light when others are approaching
9. Children
- LumiLight products are not toys
- Keep products, batteries, charging cables and packaging out of reach of young children
- Children should use LumiLight products only under adult supervision
- Do not allow children to charge a product, change batteries or handle charging cables unsupervised
- Small parts and packaging may present a choking or suffocation hazard
10. Storage, Travel & Disposal
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources
- Do not store a product while damp or wet
- Switch the product off before storage and, where available, use the lock function to prevent accidental activation
- For rechargeable products in long-term storage, keep the battery partially charged and recharge at least once every 3 months to maintain battery health
Air Travel
Products containing lithium batteries should normally be carried in your hand luggage, not checked baggage. Airline and airport rules vary, so check with your airline before travelling. Ensure the product is switched off and protected from accidental activation.
Disposal & Recycling
Do not dispose of LumiLight products or their batteries with general household waste. Electrical products and batteries must be recycled separately in line with local regulations, as shown by the crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol on the product or packaging. Take them to a local recycling centre or an electrical or battery collection point, or contact us for information on returning old products. Never burn or crush batteries.
PART B: THE LUMILIGHT HEADLAMP
11. Headlamp Safety
In addition to Part A, the following applies to the LumiLight Headlamp.
Fitting & Headband
- Wear the headlamp on the head only. Never wear it or hang it around the neck, as this creates a risk of strangulation
- Adjust the headband so it is secure but comfortable. Do not overtighten
- If you experience skin irritation, redness, headaches or discomfort, loosen or remove the headlamp
- Do not use a headband that is torn, overstretched or has damaged fittings
Heat Against the Skin
The headlamp is worn against the skin and may become warm during extended use at higher brightness. If it becomes uncomfortably warm, switch to a lower setting or remove it. Take extra care with children, older people or anyone with reduced skin sensitivity, who may not notice excessive heat.
Beam Direction
The LumiLight Headlamp has a wide beam that follows your head movement. Take care when turning to face or talk to other people, and switch to a lower setting when close to others. When walking or running towards traffic, cyclists or pedestrians, tilt the headlamp downwards to avoid dazzling them.
Driving & Cycling
- Do not wear the headlamp while driving a motor vehicle, as the light may reflect off the windscreen or dazzle other road users
- The headlamp is not a road-legal bicycle light and must not replace approved front and rear cycle lights
Water Resistance
The LumiLight Headlamp is rated IPX4, meaning it is protected against splashing water from any direction. It is designed to withstand light rain, splashes and brief exposure to moisture. It is not waterproof and is not suitable for:
- Submersion in water
- Swimming or underwater use
- Prolonged exposure to heavy rain, snow or standing water
Ensure the charging port cover is fully closed before use in wet conditions.
Charging
The LumiLight Headlamp has a built-in 1200mAh lithium-ion battery, charged via USB-C. A full charge typically takes 2–4 hours. Disconnect it once the indicator shows a full charge, and follow all rechargeable battery guidance in Section 5. Never charge the headlamp while wearing it.
PART C: LEGAL & SUPPORT
12. Compliance & Certification
LumiLight products are designed and manufactured to meet the product safety and compliance requirements applicable in the markets in which we sell them. The certifications and markings that apply to each product are shown on the product, its packaging or the relevant product page. Declarations of conformity are available on request.
Certifications apply only when the product is used as supplied. Unauthorised modification, tampering or use of non-approved accessories may invalidate certifications and affect your warranty.
13. Reporting a Safety Concern & Product Recalls
If you experience or become aware of a safety issue with a LumiLight product, such as overheating, battery swelling, burns, skin reactions or any incident causing injury or damage:
- Stop using the product immediately
- Keep the product, packaging and your proof of purchase if safe to do so, as we may ask you to return them for inspection
- Contact us at support@shoplumilight.com with the subject line "Safety Concern", including your order number, the product, and a description (and photos, if possible) of what happened
We treat all safety reports as a priority. In the unlikely event of a product recall or safety notice, we will contact affected customers directly using the details provided at purchase and publish information on our website.
